The Berrima Quarter is a proposed adaptive reuse project to transform the now disused former Berrima Correctional Centre (opening in 1839 as the Berrima Gaol) into a lively community hub providing experiences for indoor/outdoor dining, a place to unwind, boutique accommodation and a place to gather with friends. The Berrima Quarter will celebrate the heritage and history of the former Berrima Gaol site and will ensure the care and upkeep of the significant heritage elements of the site are maintained for generations to come.

The sale of the site in 2022 by the NSW state government heralded the next phase in the evolving uses of the facility. Developer Blue Sox Group were the successful tenderers for the site and plans are now under way to reimagine the next future use in the life of the gaol. We are honoured by the opportunity to bring new life into the site while maintaining its rich history and character.

On 16th October, 2025, the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (DPHI) will place the State Significant Development proposal on the NSW Major Projects Portal for public comment for 28 days.

Public exhibition and comment will be open from 16 October to 12 November.
